Anima takes over 80% of Castello SGR from Oaktree

Anima Holding has signed the binding contract for the acquisition of 80 percent of the capital of Castello SGR, a Milan-based company managing products of alternative investment mainly in the real estate. The countervalue is 60 million euros, which will be paid entirely in cash. Following the closing of the transaction, the funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, the current majority shareholder majority, will retain the remaining 20 percent of the capital (with a put/call option) and a representation on the board of directors of Castello. Castello SGR is, in Italy, among the leading SGRs by volume of hotel portfolio owned.

The fund owns several facilities hotels belonging to the upscale and luxury in top destinations including Rome, Milan,Florence but also secondary ones. Castello’s recent transactions include. the acquisition of a historic building in Rome at Via Raffaello Sanzio 15, which took place in partnership with iAM Capital Group, of the NH Anglo American in Florence and of the Four Points by Sheraton Milan Center in Milan. Recent sales side, however, always Castello divested the Almar Jesolo Resort in favor of Hova Hospitality-Perial Asset Management.

It should also be recalled that in November of last year Castello SGR concluded an agreement for the restructuring of the financial debt of the fund called “Rainbow,” owner of the properties of the Ethra Reserve hotel complex in Apulia consisting of four hotels with four and five-star hotels (the villages known as “Alborea” “Calanè,” “Kalidria,” and “Valentino”).
