The domestic group Piazza Hotels & Residences (PHR) has recently finalized the acquisition, under lease contract, of the management of Unahotels Varese in Varese (VA), owned by the insurance group Unipol.

The PHR chain would plan to maintain, at least in the near future, the Unahotels brand. The hotel is located near the main motorway junctions and not far from the city centre, it has 220 rooms, water areas, fitness area and MICE spaces.

The new acquisition is in addition to the recent new entries in the Group’s portfolio, which in recent months has seen the acquisition in MCA of the Schloss Hotel, 4* with 144 keys, in Pontresina (Switzerland), as well as a small hotel (10 rooms) in Venice. Last year’s rent-to-buy acquisition is, instead, the Green Park in Bologna (4* with 154 keys) for which the group would be in advanced negotiations with a leading American brand.

The new acquisitions are part of the development plan of the chain which, starting from 2016, has progressively reduced its presence in the residence segment in the face of a strong increase in the hotel rooms portfolio.

Overall, the group’s key portfolio has grown significantly over the years, recording a CAGR of +14% in the period 2013-2022. The hotel component, in particular, represents the 58% of the keys of the chain.
