Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ new economy & long stay brand “Project ECHO” (acronym for Economy Hotel Opportunity) will allow the group to differentiate its portfolio to target new markets. There are already 50 new development projects under the new brand.
According to the company’s declaration, during the Covid-19 pandemic in the USA the RevPAR for the economy segment increased by 8% compared to 2019, while the rest of the sector decreased by 17%. In addition, in 2021 the average occupancy in the United States for economy long stay hotels was more than 78%, 20 points higher than in all other US segments combined.
With 50 hotels already in the pipeline under the Project ECHO brand, Wyndham is now investigating further growth opportunities both domestically and internationally.
In fact, the brand plans to open its first hotel in the 2023 and is actively identifying possible development markets in the United States and incentive schemes to select developers.
The company aims for at least 300 hotels over the next ten years in the United States with potential for further growth internationally.
More details about Project ECHO, including the official name of the brand, to date still provisional, should be announced when the brand is officially launched by the end of the year.
